This fake biopic follows Dewey Cox (John C. Reilly), who struggles to become a major recording star.
Finally, John C. Reilly gets to be the head-liner in a big Hollywood movie. He's been Hollywood's second fiddle more times than an actual second fiddle. Reilly does a good job playing the Dewey Cox character. The film has a kind of "Forrest Gump" quality in that Dewey meets several famous rock-stars during his journey to rock-n-roll fame.
The problem with Walk Hard is that it is too serious too often. The film works best when Cox is shown interacting with his pet monkey and conversing with his brother's ghost. When Cox is contemplating his life near the end of the film, it looses steam and misses the note that was set all through the film. Jamie says "6".
