Nikolai (Viggo Mortensen), who belongs to one of London's most feared organized crime families, meets a midwife (Naomi Watts) who unwittingly holds damaging information that could lead to unraveling the family's criminal network. Nikolai must make sure this doesn't happen without ruining the young woman's life.
Eastern Promises has one of the most unusual and memorable fight scenes in recent years. Come to think of it...its comparable to the Borat hotel wrestling scene. The fight in Eastern Promises is bloody and you get to see Viggo Mortensen naked instead of Borat.
If you can get by the thick (super think) Russian accents...Eastern Promises has some promise. Jamie says "7".
